Preparing For Your Allergy Test

It is important that you stop all antihistamines and cold and flu medications for at least 4 days before your skin prick tests, or they may not interpretable. If you cannot stop these medications, please contact the clinic prior to your appointment. 

Antihistamines have many different trade names and if you are in doubt speak to your pharmacist. Commonly, antihistamines contain one of the following ingredients:

Loratadine, desloratadine, fexofenadine, cetirizine, promethazine, dexchlorpheniramine, brompheniramine, cyproheptadine
