Dr Simon Frenkel
Dr Simon Frenkel has been consulting in the Western and Northern regions of Melbourne for over ten years. Dr Frenkel’s clinical interests include:
- Sleepiness and fatigue
- Circadian rhythm disturbances
- Sleep apnoea
- Other interests include the use of cardiopulmonary exercise testing in the evaluation and management of breathless patients
Dr Frenkel undertook his training at The Alfred and Western Hospitals in Melbourne. He presently has an appointment as a Staff Specialist at Western Health and undertakes private practice in Footscray, Niddrie and Werribee.
Dr Frenkel has expertise in all aspects of Sleep Medicine, with particular interest in non-respiratory sleep disorders including insomnia, sleepiness, circadian rhythm disturbances and restless legs syndrome; he uses multidisciplinary models of care to optimise health outcomes for his patients.
Actively involved in sleep education, Dr Frenkel has presented at numerous state and national scientific meetings, along with providing education to GPs and the general community.
He is presently co-chair of the Sleep Physicians Council of the Australasian Sleep Association. In addition to being a Staff Specialist at the Western Hospital, Dr Frenkel consults with Lung & Sleep Victoria in Footscray, Niddrie, Werribee and in the suburb of Sunbury.
